BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) Conference Sold out!

This year’s BACP research conference on - ‘Synergy in counselling and psychotherapy research’ is fully booked.

Taking place in Birmingham on 10-11 May the conference aims to show how research can then be related to training and practice to produce better outcomes for clients.

“Jonathan Kent says research has linked growing commercial pressures on children to higher rates of depression, lower self-esteem and to mental health problems but that it is very difficult to prove such a link.

“The tobacco industry managed to argue for years that cigarettes don’t cause harm. Proving causality is difficult, especially when it’s in an area as complex and nebulous as psychology,” he said.

“Most parents will know instinctively that their children are deeply affected by advertising. They’ll also know that children now are far more materialistic than children were 20 or 40 years ago.”“

Extended 24/7 library opening hours this term

Welcome back, hope you had a great break

We are now back to our usual term time 24/7 opening hours so please check our opening hours link on the library webpage

In order to support you further during this busy term St Peter’s will also be extending their hours to 24/7 from Tuesday 7 May until Thursday 30th May 2013

If you need help during unstaffed hours try calling our IT Helpline 0191 515 2992 or 0800 694 4888 who will try their best to help you.

Open all hours! Are you wanting to use the Library during the Easter vacation?

You’ll find a calendar for the full Easter period and beyond on the Library website under our Service Hours.

You’ll be able to see which days we are open and staffed and when we are unstaffed and operating a self service.

However in a nutshell, The Murray Library is open 24/7  and St. Peter’s Library until midnight, every day throughout the Easter Vacation.

There will be no Saturday or Sunday staffed service from the 22nd March until the week beginning 15th April. There will also be no staffed service on Friday 29th March and Monday 1st April.

We hope you have a good vacation.
